Topics Addressed at Last Meeting on June 17th:

At our last meeting we discussed a couple of church visits and shared vs dedicated space.

Some highlights from our church visits are as follows:

  • Good Shepard in Silver Spring, MD: Great use of using older space and creating a new larger space, but keeping a cohesive look. Nice small sink and area for coffee right off of main sanctuary (folks “have to” walk through coffee hours).
  • St. Patrick’s Visit this Sat at 9am. Good use of worship space that can open up into a social hall.

Dedicated space: Nursery, Godly Play, probably choir room.
Shared space: classrooms, sunday school rooms, meeting rooms. Use flexible, well-sound proof dividers so that rooms can be small or large.

Ask Brock for Episcopals Safe Haven guidelines.

Do we still need input from Sexton and Coffee Steward?

For the final report for the architect three lists are recommended by Steve: 1) Shoot for the starts 2) Optimal 3) Bare necessities

Nursery should be by sanctuary for easy access? Godly Play may not need to as close to the sanctuary, but perhaps close if children come into the main service for special activities.

Western Presbyterian was unable to meet us for the scheduled visit, so we should try to reschedule.

Barbara is going to make "Ask me about Non-Worship Space" buttons for Committee members to wear the next two Sundays as the Worship space committee did.

Next Meeting:

Tuesday, June 24 from 7-8:30pm at the church.

Agenda: We will discuss our church visits and make final recommen-dations.

Feedback Needed from Parishioners: We still encourage all parishioners to give any recommendations they have about non-worship space to our committee and invite them to our next and last subcommittee meeting.
