Topics Addressed at Last Meeting on June 3, 2008:

At our last meeting, Wayne Floyd shared the progress of the Program subcommittee and how the work of that subcommittee should inform the non-worship committee. Additional insight is needed from the outreach committee to determine what facility needs the committee will need going forward.

The following needs were also discussed.

Storage

  • Supply storage, e.g. office supplies
  • Equipment storage. Where do we store movable chairs, audio/visual equipment, picnic storage.
  • Program Specific:
    • Pride
    • Holiday
    • Picnics
    • Parish Retreat
    • Transitional Housing storage, chairs, beds, houses
    • Sacred Grounds
    • Existing cellar space needs to be larger to accommodate all of these programmatic needs, and should be accessible.
  • Archives
  • Things like candles need to be stored together and well known to the parish.
  • Filing storage.
  • Coat closet
  • Locker space for caterers
  • Choir has its own storage space, e.g music

** Email to chairs asking space needs

Technology

  • CAT 6 wiring throughout building, in every room, to support data network, telephony
  • Coaxial wiring throughout the building, in every room
  • Entire building needs to have wireless internet/WiFi
  • Need a server for means of offering on-demand access to parishioners, guests
  • Secure wireless for staff (VPN)
  • Networking closets to support Gig-e wired networks
  • PBX and telephones
  • Server room/closet
  • Ceiling space for wifi routers
  • Room equipment:
    • Several rooms equipped with LCD projectors embedded in the ceiling. Easy to use remotes
    • Wired for sound
    • Phones
    • Computers in frequently used rooms
  • Centralized energy monitoring
  • Backup power system?

Security

Music room

  • Room where up to 30 people can rehearse
  • Sound proofing
  • Music folder storage for musicians

  • Appropriate climate control for the instruments.

Kitchen

  • Look for opportunities to partner with a caterer in the city, like fresh start, to staff our kichen for events, conferences.
  • Kitchen should be able to cook a sit-down meal for a population twice our sanctuary size (700 people)
  • Probably would not be used for an ongoing feeding program.

Feedback Needed from Parishioners: The non-worship subcommittee is responsible for discerning the parish’s needs for a wide range of space.
